Join artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq for a Deaf-led tour of "Bharti Kher at the V&A". Meet at the Blavatnik Hall.
‘Bharti Kher at the V&A’ is a free display of four sculptures by internationally acclaimed British Indian artist Bharti Kher, bringing her work into conversation with the V&A’s historic collections. Situated across key locations in the Dorothy and Michael Hintze Sculpture Galleries and Exhibition Road Courtyard, Kher’s fantastical sculptures explore themes of womanhood, cultural identity, transformation, and mythology. Through hybrid forms and culturally resonant materials, Kher's works invite visitors to see both contemporary sculpture and the museum's collections in new ways.
Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq is a Muslim Deaf female Pakistani-British artist based in London. Primarily a painter and installation artist, she also uses film and animation to explore the intersectionality of identities within her cultures and celebrate the three-dimensional, dynamic nature of language and experience.
She has engaged with both deaf and hearing communities through leading art workshops and BSL tours for the Hayward Gallery, Wallace Collection, National Portrait Gallery, National Gallery, Frameless, The Kings Gallery and more.
Rubbena’s artwork was featured in the ITV Create series in 2019. Her permanent installation work, commissioned by Hospital Rooms 2022, can be found at Springfield Hospital, London and new locations for 2026. She has exhibited in New York, Washington DC, London, Paris, South Korea and Canada.
This tour will be in British Sign Language only, all BSL-users welcome. Booking is essential.
